A moment in my life that’s made me feel truly alive, well more like little moments here and there.
The most recent moment would have to be when I took my sons fishing at the Newport Pier. My youngest son, had the most innocent and sweetest reaction to the seeing the beach and the ocean for the first time. He was so excited and happy. He kept pointing at the seagulls, flaying his arms, and kicking his legs from excitement. He had the biggest smile I have ever seen. It was precious to see.
My oldest son, he was happy to go fishing for his first time. We caught no fish but a couple manta rays. I noticed a seal out there swimming by. Maybe there were others but it had become dark and cold by that time. My sons were all bundled up and warm. They were running around, playing, and riding their bike up and down the pier. Eating and drinking their snacks and meal. I even gave one of my sons a piggy-back ride walking back up the pier.
We arrived late at home, but it’s a moment like this that doesn’t happen often for us. They slept on drive back and kept sleeping even when being transferred to their bed. My toddlers were exhausted but they looked happy out there.
They might not remember it as they grow older but I’ll sure remember.
